Music History and Theory Section

The Music History and Theory section includes the subjects of Solfeggio and Music History.

Solfeggio and Music History lessons are attended by students of all specializations. These lessons develop fundamental competencies, offer students various activities, and help them learn the language of music as well as understand the music they hear and perform, while also introducing them to the history of music.

Students actively participate in project-based activities initiated by teachers, student conferences, and original educational projects that extend beyond the usual classroom lessons.

The long-term solfeggio project “My First Song,” involving students from all grades, reveals new talents of young composers, poets, and artists every year. Cultural, cognitive, and civic competencies are successfully developed through annual educational projects such as “Song Chest,” “Dedication to a Composer,” “Towards Musicology,” “Young Composers Share Their Experiences,” and other activities.

Modern technologies and new working methods have become an integral part of developing musical hearing and music comprehension: in solfeggio and music history classes, interactive boards are used.

Students and teachers constantly collaborate with the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre, Juozas Tallat-Kelpša Conservatory in Vilnius, M. K. Čiurlionis National Art School, Klaipėda Jeronimas Kačinskas Music School, and other institutions.

The teachers in the section are true professionals in their field: they prepare subject programs and teaching materials, lead seminars, deliver methodological presentations, and initiate and organize national conferences. Their students successfully represent the school by winning prize places and diplomas at national competitions.

The curator of the Music History and Theory section is Expert Teacher Nadežda Dambrauskienė.
